What PREP is about:
The overarching objective:
- Design and evaluate a new integrated approach to an entrepreneurship education program for prisoners.
- Evidence-based approach to reduce the recidivism rate among prisoners.
- Given that most entrepreneurial ideas fail, a program that solely focuses on business aspects is not enough for achieving positive long-term effects.
PREP’s Impact on Governmental Reintegration Strategy
PREP was highlighted in the Irish Department of Justice’s Reintegration Strategy 2025-2027 as a key initiative to support formerly incarcerated individuals in their efforts to establish and secure employment. This recognition marks a major milestone for the project, and we are proud to contribute to this important work (see page 25): https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/b5a91-building-pathways-together-criminal-justice-reintegration-through-employment-strategy-2025-2027/.
A multidisciplinary approach
for the training, including fundamental training modules for reintegration
Integrate the psychological-mindset
approach into entrepreneurial training programs, which might prove to be even more relevant to prisoners
Incorporate the post-release phase
into the training by building capacity in community-based organizations for entrepreneurial coaching of ex-prisoners
